How to Watch Texas State Football Championships

Texas is the home of some of the best high school football in the country. This week, that talent is on display at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The University Interscholastic League state championships began Wednesday, with three games per day through Saturday. Here are a few ways you can watch them:

Aledo vs. College Station

Aledo is looking to extend its state championship streak to 11 with a win over College Station. The Bearcats are also looking to regain their top ranking in the 2022 Sports High School Football US rankings.

Aledo started the game in familiar fashion, scoring on their first drive, then recovering a College Station fumble. Aledo took a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, and extended it to 35-0 by halftime.

The Aledo defense held College Station to no touchdowns in the second half as well. Aledo quarterback Hauss Hejny threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Hejny, who is junior and will be a backup next season, was Offensive Player of the Game. Hejny completed 11 of 15 passes for 175 yards and two TDs while running for 139 yards on nine carries.

Hejny threw a 7-yard pass to Jalen Pope for a 28-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. Hejny also threw a 20-yard pass to Patrick-Daniels for a touchdown.

College Station had its best drive of the game early in the third quarter but the drive was killed on a second Aledo fumble recovery. Aledo got the ball back with just over four minutes remaining when Gavin Olenjack returned a kickoff 31 yards to the College Station 49.

That was followed by a fumble recover by Jake Gillespie and Davhon Keys recovered the ball at the College Station 37. That set up a short Aledo touchdown run by Keys.

Aledo led 35-0 at halftime and 52-8 by the end of the third quarter. Aledo racked up 539 total yards and College Station had just 145.

DeSoto vs. Galena Park North Shore

If you’re a high school football fan in Texas, you know that the texas state football championships are some of the most exciting events in the sport. This week, the best teams in Texas will battle for four days of titles at AT&T Stadium.

For some teams, it’s their first time making a state title game appearance, and for others, they’re back to defend their titles after missing out the last two years. No matter what type of team you’re following, there are a number of ways to watch the texas state football championships on television and online.

In addition to the NFHS Network, Bally Sports Southwest and Bally Sports Extra will cover all of the Class 1A-6A championship games on their platforms. For those who don’t want to spend a lot of money on a subscription, you can also stream the games on YouTube TV or Hulu.

Whether you’re a fan of DeSoto or Galena Park North Shore, the first game of the day features a pair of high-powered teams with great potential. No matter which one you choose to watch, it’s going to be a good time at AT&T Stadium.

DeSoto, coached by Claude Mathis, reached the state championship in 2016 and will try to repeat that feat again this year. The Eagles have a strong group of seniors and a few underclassmen who are rising stars in their classes, including wide receiver LaRandion Dowden (who just eclipsed 1,000 yards this season).

Meanwhile, Galena Park North Shore, coached by David Green Jr., has been a perennial Texas power since 2013, winning three straight state titles. It has a young roster, but a big-time recruit at receiver could make the difference in this year’s game.

DeSoto vs. Galena Park Benjamin

For gridiron junkies all across the state, it’s time to start looking forward to the upcoming Texas state football championships. A full slate of games kicks off Wednesday and will continue through Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

There are plenty of great matches this week, but it’s the 6A Division II title game that will really interest fans of the high school sport in Texas. The 19th-ranked DeSoto Cougars will take on the 66th-ranked Vandegrift Vipers, who defeated Katy in the semifinals to advance to their first state championship game.

The Cougars have a number of talented players on their roster including 2023 Texas commit Johntay Cook and 2024 UNT commit Tre Wisner. They are also led by a rushing attack that features Marsaillus Sims, Drevvon Ponder and DAunte Prevost.

Another key player on the DeSoto team is WR Jesse McDougle, who was the Class 6A Division I MVP last season. He is expected to play in the NFL this year and has been a big part of the team’s success so far this season.

While DeSoto will be a favorite to win this one, they have a tough task ahead of them against Vandegrift. The Vipers are coming off their biggest upset in program history, beating Katy and will have a tough test in front of them.

On the other side of the ball, Vandegrift has a lot of talent as well. They have several SMU commits on their roster, along with some great players from other schools. The rushing game is also very strong with the likes of Ian Reed and Blake Frazier on the offensive line.

DeSoto vs. Galena Park Lorraine

The Texas state football championships kick off Wednesday at AT&T Stadium and run through Saturday. All games will be broadcast on a variety of media platforms.

The best way to enjoy the competition is by attending a live game in person. This is a great opportunity to meet your favorite players, as well as fellow fans. You can also check out the action on a television set or on a laptop via streaming video.

A team from District 11-6A, Galena Park Lorraine, will be vying for the top spot in the 6A Division I state title game at AT&T Stadium. The Lady Lions are a perennial powerhouse in the Texana League, having won eight district titles over the past 10 seasons.

DeSoto is in the thick of things as well, with a 14-2 record and a highly touted senior class that has made waves both on and off the field. The Eagles are led by quarterback Darius Bailey and a studly defense that is a force to be reckoned with.

It’s hard to pick a winner for the title of best overall team in the District 11-6A classification, but the Eagles are certainly up there with the competition. The team is led by head coach Claude Mathis, who won his first state championship in 2016. The best news for the aficionados is that a trip to the Big D should be well worth the effort.
